Jordi Balló receives the Ciutat de Barcelona award in the category of audiovisuals
Dr. Jordi Balló, member of the CINEMA group and professor in Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, as well as Director of the MA in Creative Documentary was awarded the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona 2011 in the category of audiovisuals for curating the exhibition Totes les cartes. Launch of the New International MA in Film and Media Studies
This year sees the launch of the new International MA in Film and Media Studies, coordinated by the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3. The Communication Department at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra takes part in this new initiative together with other seven universities from a number of European countries: the Università degli Studi di Udine and the Università Catolica del Sacre Cuore di Milano, in Italy; the Université de Liège, in Belgium; the Ruhr Universität Bochum, in Germany; Birkbeck College of the University of London, in the United Kingdom, and Université de Nanterre-Paris 10 and l’Université Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3, in France.

The 1st International Congress on Gesture Mutations in European Cinema Was Held on May–June 2012
On 31 May and 1–2 June 2012 the 1st International Congress on Gesture Mutations in European Cinema took place at the Auditorium of the Communication Campus of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra. The Congress, organised by the OCEC and the Communication Department and directed by Dr. Ivan Pintor, focused on the discussion of gestuality in the history of European cinema and its contemporary aesthetic tendencies.
