This year sees the launch of the new International MA in Film and Media Studies, coordinated by the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3. The Communication Department at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra takes part in this new initiative together with other seven universities from a number of European countries: the Università degli Studi di Udine and the Università Catolica del Sacre Cuore di Milano, in Italy; the Université de Liège, in Belgium; the Ruhr Universität Bochum, in Germany; Birkbeck College of the University of London, in the United Kingdom, and Université de Nanterre-Paris 10 and l’Université Sorbonne Nouvelle-Paris 3, in France.

The International MA in Film and Media Studies is comprised of two stages. The first is the Màster Universitari en Estudis de Cinema i Audiovisual (MA in Film and Media Studies) tought at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra since the acadèmic year 2008-09, most of its professors being membres of OCEC. In the second, the student may enrol as a visiting student in one or two foregin universities, a stay that will grant him or her the opportunity to broaden and contrast his or her knowledge, and specialise in particular areas of study. This opening to Europe is a two-way path, also offering the opportunity to foreign students to take part in the MA at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

The International MA in Film and Media Studies is coordianted in Barcelona by the Dra. Núria Bou and the professor Alan Salvadó. Its objective is to establish academic and intellectual ties with other European universities and enrich the perspectives of the OCEC research group, as well as the communication and discussion of its research outcomes. Pedagogy has been one of the main interests of the OCEC since its creation, and this initiative provides an excellent opportunity to develop the international network of the research group.
