Jordi Balló receives the Ciutat de Barcelona award in the category of audiovisuals
Dr. Jordi Balló, member of the CINEMA group and professor in Audiovisual Communication at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, as well as Director of the MA in Creative Documentary was awarded the Premi Ciutat de Barcelona 2011 in the category of audiovisuals for curating the exhibition Totes les cartes. Correspondències fílmiques (All the letters. Filmic correspondences).

This exhibition, recently on view at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona, brought together the letters that six pairs of international film-makers had sent each other in the form of films. The format was initiated with the correspondences between Víctor Erice and Abbas Kiarostami, which gave place to the exhibition Erice-Kiarostami. Correspondències, curated by Balló and Alain Bergala (2006). Other five filmic couples have followed: José Luis Guerín (Barcelona) – Jonas Mekas (New York), Isaki Lacuesta (Girona) – Naomi Kawase (Nara), Albert Serra (Banyoles) – Lisandro Alonso (Buenos Aires), Jaime Rosales (Madrid) – Wang Bing (Shaanxi) i Fernando Eimbcke (Ciutat de Mèxic) – So Yong Kim (Pusan, New York). This project has enabled the emergence of correspondences and cinematic relationships between film-makers living far apart but who share similar working methods and cinematic conceptions.

The exhibition has travelled through several national and international museums and is accompanied by a DVD Pack published by Intermedio.
